Never AFK 1

Never AFK

Meet gamer Billie, a level 150 Warmage who spends most of the time in the colorful world of Phelmae. Billie loves to play and compete with a guild, but mostly hanging out with best friend Buffy, a vain necromancer and Billie’s faithful companion. One day they find an undiscovered part of the game …

Never AFK (Away From Keyboard) is about a young person who spends most of the time in the magical world of computer games. The performance examines identity and relationships, and the dark forces that exist outside and within ourselves. In a visual and all-consuming journey, the debate about computer games and addiction is lifted onto the stage, and challenges our view of what reality really is.

The story and the concept are developed through interviews and workshops with young people who play a lot of computer / video games, and who feel the stigma, powerlessness and frustration that their stories are not told. Together with players and experts, we have through a process-oriented work built a story that illuminates what a human being can go through, both in the face of the game and with society outside, when life largely takes place in a digital life.
