HOME in performing arts for a young audience

PUSH+

04/12/2019 - 13:00 - 16:00

How can performing arts challenge which stories are told, who and what do we see on stage?

Showbox is part of the international collaboration project PUSH +, where we explore topics that has been under-represented or difficult to explore in performing arts for a young audience. So far, PUSH + has researched the topics of gender and sexual identity, overprotection, migration, home, and failure.

At this event we will have different entrances to the theme of home and belonging.

Participants:
PUSH + artists Ilke Teerlinck, Mette Møller Overgaard, Els Roobroeck and Rebecca Lenaerts.
Artists and musicians Jonathan Orellana Castro and Felipe Orellana Castro from the performance Blokk til blokk (by SPKRBOX and Det Norske Teatret)
Moderator: Mehda Zolfaqari

We will see two work in progress:

Happy Feet by Ilke Teerlinck, Mette Møller Overgaard, Els Roobroeck and Vince Virr
A performance about searching for, finding and losing home, and how family constellations change. A safe space for children and young people to explore different feelings related to the concept of home as well as engage and inspire them. What makes their home, home (again)?

Birdwoman by Rebecca Lenaerts
With a blanket covered with bird feathers, Birdwoman has a shelter, a safe belt, a costume, a harness. A solo performance exploring the friction between appearing and disappearing. Between hiding and showing.
