Welcome to a performance where the artists and children together recreate Hans Christian Andersen’s wonderful adventures. dybwikdans preserves with this – and other performances – the fairytale tradition and stimulates wonder and imagination. In this version of The Princess on the Pea, the story is conveyed through text and dance, staged in a sensuous scenography.

The performance takes care of the strange in the fairy tale, at the same time as the story is conveyed with a squint at how boys and girls, kings and princesses, are portrayed. Several kindergartens have been active contributors in the development of the show.

The performance premiered at Gulbenkian during bOing! festival in Canterbury in England in 2016, and in addition to many performances in Norway has also been performed at the Centro Cultural de Belem in Lisbon and at the Art Space for Kids in Beijing and Shanghai. The Princess on the Pea is still touring nationally and internationally – when conditions allow. Among other things, it will hopefully tour a month in Japan in the summer of 2021.

Suitable for children 3-5 years.
The performance lasts 40 – 60 minutes depending on the interaction with the audience.
