What happens when the pressure around you becomes too much?
When your demands on yourself are not possible to fulfill?
Janne is always “the best”, and her fear of making mistakes is huge.
But when she has to write a perfect paper on “Life in Versailles”, she panics.
She leaves her comfort zone, and has suddenly written herself into the story, as a prince …
When she lets her imagination take her along, the world around her transforms into a colorful and gradually grotesque version of Versailles, and a reflection of her own life.
Versailles is a play about the need to be seen, of being left out, and the need to find your own place within or outside the community of which you are a part.
Jannes imagination, and its power, helps her to solve the unsolvable.
The performance is a defense of, and a tribute to, imagination.
Versailles is written especially for Theater Joker by Jesper Halle.
